Welcome to ZendCon!

This year’s annual ZendCon got underway today. Some of the hot tutorials on the first day were Sebastian Bergmann and Stefan Priebsch’s session on PHP Unit Recipes for Success, Wim Godden’s session on Caching and Tuning Fun for High Availability, and of course the ever popular PHP Certification Boot Camp. Good luck to everyone taking their certifications exams today, tomorrow and Wednesday in Santa Clara! For many it’s going to be the first time to take the PHP 5.5 exam (and we still have some slots left).

And perhaps most importantly – the red elePHPants are in the building! We’ll be sharing how to get one right after the opening keynote from 8.30-9.45am tomorrow morning but if you are attending ZendCon and you want to get a head start on the elePHPant hunt you can download and install Zend Server here (did you know there’s a free edition?).

Tomorrow is a big day for the conference, starting with the opening keynote at 8.30am; several cool announcements in that keynote – including a huge new project around API-centric design (watch this space!). In the afternoon we have a keynote by Peter S Magnusson, Engineering Director for Google Cloud Services who will share some of the lessons Google has learned about building for the cloud. And the beer starts flowing in the expo hall at 6.15pm.

Looking forward to a great conference!
